Carson City, NV- In 1975, the Nevada Legislature created the Nevada Housing Division to address a shortage of safe, decent and sanitary housing options for low- and moderate-income persons and families.  Now in its 40th year, NHD remains committed to developing and administering programs to provide affordable housing solutions that positively impact the quality of life for all Nevadans. 

 

Highlights of NHD programs since inception

· More than $1 billion of multifamily financing has created over 22,000 affordable apartment units throughout the state     

· The Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program has generated nearly $1 billion in tax credit equity, creating more than 11,000 affordable apartment units since 1987

· Since 1992, Home Investment Partnership Program (HOME) funds have built or rehabilitated approximately 2,700 quality housing units

· The Weatherization Assistance Program has increased energy efficiency for more than 25,000 low-income Nevadans  since 1977

· Since inception in 1989, the Low-Income Housing Trust Fund has served more than 32,000 seniors, veterans, families and individuals with disabilities  through down payment, emergency or rehabilitation assistance

· Emergency Solutions Grant funds have provided shelter for more than 32,000 at-risk Nevadans since 2001

· Launched in 2014, www.NVHousingSearch.org provides a free, searchable database of more than     30,000 affordable and market rate rentals available throughout Nevada

· More than 20,000 Silver State families, have received down payment assistance from Home Is Possible grant program to realize the dream of homeownership

Created by the Nevada Legislature in 1975, the Nevada Housing Division was enacted to encourage the investment of private capital and stimulate affordable housing financing by leveraging public funds. The Division provides low interest rate mortgages and down payment assistance to qualifying individuals and provides funding for affordable multi-family housing developments for seniors and families.
