Making Homeownership Even More Affordable

The MCC Program provides both qualified first-time homebuyers and veterans a federal income tax credit of up to 30% of the interest paid on their mortgage loan.  The Nevada Housing Division provides the MCC benefit statewide.

    Key Benefits

    • Federal income tax credit equal of up to 30% of the interest paid on a mortgage loan - an average yearly savings of $2000
    • Savings will continue each year based on the actual mortgage interest paid
    • Remaining interest can also be claimed as a tax deduction
    • A $400 discount is available when combined with the Home Is Possible Down Payment Assistance Program

      Program Requirements

      • First-time homebuyers (have not owned a home in the past 3 years) or qualified veterans who will live in the home as their primary residence
      • Households meeting normal FHA, VA, Conventional or USDA RD underwriting requirements
      • Borrowers who are purchasing a home in the state of Nevada
      • Households meeting the maximum income and purchase price limits for the area in which they are purchasing the home
      • Flat program fee of $795 and $300 lender application fee

        Veteran Discount

        As of October 1, 2015, qualified veterans will be able to waive their MCC fees, with the exception of a $300 lender application fee.  Veterans who are honorably discharged, are first time homebuyers serving on active duty, surviving spouses or National Guard service personnel are eligible.
