Nevada Weatherization Assistance Program

 Energy Assistance for Nevada Homes

The Nevada Weatherization Assistance Program helps income-qualified families lower their utility bills, conserve energy, and improve the health and safety of their homes. Common improvements include:

  •  Air sealing to reduce drafts and heat loss
  • Installation of energy-efficient LED lighting
  • Added insulation to maintain indoor temperatures
  • Low-flow shower heads to conserve water
  • Solar screens to block heat from windows
  • Weather-stripping to seal doors and windows
  • HVAC, refrigerator, and/or water heater upgrades/repairs

The Nevada energy assistance program is available for households at or below 200% of the federal poverty level, as determined by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget and published by the U.S Department of Health and Human Services. For approved homeowners and renters, all services are provided at no cost.

Note: Owners of Eligible rental properties may be responsible for covering 50% of the cost.

How It Works

Step 1: Identify the agency serving your area.

The Nevada Housing Division (NHD) provides funding to nonprofit agencies who deliver weatherization services across the state. Identify the agency in your area:

Step 2: Apply through the agency serving your area.

Each agency will provide an application for the Nevada Weatherization Assistance Program and assist, and answer questions as needed. Check your agency's website to review the details and apply.

Step 3: Complete a home energy assessment.

Once approved, the agency will schedule a home energy assessment, during which a licensed energy auditor will determine which energy-saving measures your home qualifies for.

Step 4: Receive energy-efficient upgrades.

Based on your home assessment, home energy improvements will be installed by agency-approved contractors.
